Hi guys

can any one help me, i have a lovely big twisted willow in the garden and id like to half it which intern will remove an awful lot of canopy and growth. Will it sprout new growth from branches that when cut back will be 6 inches in diameter almost like it has been pollarded ?

when would be best to do it ?

Thanks everyone

It's lovely, but you want to cut half of it off.

What's your objective?

Is there a picture?

Wounds generally close better when made in the growing season.

The reason is it's stopping light to the pond and house it's also dropping a lot of canopy.

In the pic it would be taken down to just above the bird nest.

Hopefully new growth could be a stablished and managed better.

Or we take it right out ?
