Hello guys just wondering if anybody can help me out or guide me in the right direction really. Basically I'm a fully qualified arborist and I have also completed my nvq level 2 course at askham Bryan, unfortunately my 2 year contract has ended and I am looking to set up my own small business and hopefully over the year expand, basically I'm asking for advice on literally anything anybody can help me out with but mainly to do with laws and regulations as I'm aware of how the job runs but not so sure about the running of a business, any help appreciated. reading through i might not have made it clear that i have also had 2 years at a forestry & arb company learning off the "old boys" and also lads pretty new to the game (last 10 years).

Public liability insurance is a must to start with ... turning up on time to give a quote, turning up on time for work you have quoted for, leaving the place tidy, and doing a days work as stated in the quote ... don't underprice your self, stick to your guns, you will have knock backs though, part of the territory ... these are the basics that you probably already know, but these are the basic, but no means exhaustive, principles to going it alone! Hope this helps for a start at least ... Jan
