I had a look lol

I thought the pie cut was bore the face then the side plunge then release the trigger or is that called something diff here?

Boring the face is just for stuff bigger than twice guide bar, what you sound like your describing is a standard fell, dog tooth or possibly a big pie cut

I wasn't talking bout sweeping the heart out

I'd face bore straight thru the face and out the back, set the holding wood with a plunge thru the side and slightly back then out nip the corners and release the trigger It leaves the pie cross in the middle have used it on sticks for veneer

Oh, sounds similar to a tongue and groove, those are for more control over felling, such as 90 deg to lean and such

sort of apart from the setting the holding wood with the plunge.

The t&G is a variation on the coos bay I use for learners (softwood) I do use the t&g on svery small sticks that ya couldn't wedge but not very often

I use it on mid sized oaks, so I can wedge em, but I use it where ground damage avoidance is priority, I forgot to do it on one tree, it ripped the hinge and wrecked an area of sports turf

Was it quite intense with the questions fella?

Reason I am asking is I am in the process of my CS 30 & CS31 and some pointers would be a great bonus.

I am reading everything all the time and my trainer is more than happy with the cuts I am doing.

Any help/info will be a great help and congratulations by the way.

Cheers.

Tony.

It's just basic H&S stuff, bs3998, laws and nesting stuff, but make sure cs30 is bang on!
