Stalking wanted !!!!!

Paper targets then! Shooting foxes in my experience takes more skill than bopping deer from a high seat. I hear what your saying but if your confident enough to heart shoot a fox at let's say 100mtrs then a heart shot on a roe deer at the same range should be a doddle and let's face it most deer are probably shot at less than 100 mtrs when shooting from a high seat and muntjac are about fox size. Shooting Fallow or reds well that's another thing altogether some would argue that .243 cal was not man enough others would argue that with good bullet placement there's no issue .308 would probably be a better choice however my last fallow fell quite dead with an 80g Berger from my .243ackley

Going to have a go at paper targets first when the weather warms up. :thumbup1:

I've tagged along with friends out foxing before so have an idea of the principles, and I grew up rabbit shooting with air rifles so I'm pretty comfortable with small game and vermin.

Wouldn't have a clue where to start with deer! I think they deserve better than I could offer just yet. I'll tackle it soon enough though

Good for you. It's all about confidence I usually know I've missed before I've pulled the trigger I now only use one rifle for everything 243ackly Im confident with it and it rarely misses bit messy on rabbits though.

I had my 270 ackley improved many years ago to much speed burnt my barrel out use a 6,5 x55 for deer now never used a 243 but love my 222

Not noticed any issues as yet 243 ackley should improve throat life and I'm pushing quite light load 80g Berger on top of 40g of varget, use that load for everything and never had any issues dropped a fallow and munty in the same day and meat damage was very minor on both bullet expanded its energy inside with no exit wound:thumbup1:
