Hi

I'm looking into getting more into an advisory role where woodland management is concerned but lack a knowledge background as such (or confidence i'm not sure which) :001_smile:.

I have worked for several years for the National Trust working in Practical Woodland management and understand the fundamentals, coppicing, pollarding, making gaps for light/deer management and the ecological side to it but as said i would like to do more on the advisory side like writing management plans and WGS and other forms of grant aid but feel i lack experience/knowledge.

Where would be the best place to gain a little work experience in this area and what would be a good starting point? also is it possible that anyone can send me completed WGS apps and woodland management plans so i can read through them, I'm currently trying to read as much as possible but if anyone has any recommendations for books that would be great also, However I have been much more of a learn while doing than from books but it all helps.

Please Inbox me if anyone has anything they can send me or some advice i would appreciate it.

Thanks

The FC sometimes runs events for woodland managers to show them how to complete WGS applications, including using the template manaagement plan. This could be a good starting point.
