Hi all!

would love to try some climbing... i'm very practical and nothing to high just wondering what people recomend as in getting a harness, spikes and stuff for starters?

or if i should run away...

also while i'm here... it wouldn't be any lowering, on own ground and not being paid :thumbup1:

TIA

Loads of threads on here about this but you'll have to search for individual items.

Harness wise, depending on build Petzl Sequioa, Treemotion and Kolibri seem the most popular. Xtc or gecko 13mm rope. Blue tongue, tachyon or imori for something a bit more fancy. Hitch climber & OP eye to eye for your friction hitch, plus a couple of ultra o carabiners, or a spider jack or zigzag if you want mechanical.

Make yourself up a side strop (that in itself can become an all consuming hobby!)

Spikes, distels come up again and again....

You'll want a cambium / friction saver. I have a multi saver and pulley saver. I think I prefer the multisaver in all honesty, although there is now the fimblsaver as well which is probably the answer.

A pantin is handy for when you realise it's harder than the pros make it look.

Dipped gloves to help you grip the rope, petzl vertex helmet.

One of the throw line/bag/cube kits, a rope bag....

It's endless....! :001_tongue:

Of course, then you'll want to try SRT..... :laugh1::thumbup:

Some very good suggestions there, personally I would find someone that will let you have a go first or find a rec climb locally and see how you get on, you may hate it which would mean a lot of money spent un nessaseraly but as stated, there's plenty of threads on here about it
