Horse chestnut age

Anyone wish to hazard a guess as to the age of this horse chestnut tree?

 

Diameter at 1.5m is approx 120 cm. Tree height is 8.5m. Average crown spread is between 4 and 5 metres.

My very hazardous guess would be 100, give or take 15 or so. Very difficult to judge based on a pic, can I ask why you ask?

I'd guess that it could be older - maybe even as much as 180 - as it looks quite stunted. But as sloth said, it's not that easy to tell from a photo.

 

A couple of the lower branches look relatively young, suggesting that a level of retrenchment has been taking place for maybe as much as 50 years, probably less but at least 15-20.

I was figuring more in line with HCR. The reason is that I'm trying to encourage the particular school to retain it, protect it and even do up a little sign telling the students about the tree etc. etc.
