Is there any market value in 200 tons (tonnes?) of Poplar?

I am formulating a quote for felling this amount on Cambs/Norfolk border.

Unfortunately would take me a year to clear!

Best way to approach selling/giving away this amount so I can keep quote low to get the job.

Advice please.(first post,please excuse any broken protocols)......chris.

Hi Chris,

Welcome to Arbtalk :thumbup1:

If the poplar is of a good size, Steve at Helmdon sawmills in Northamptonshire is in need of it. Needs to be about 18 inch top diameter if memory serves, in multiples of 2.3m. Best to speak to him though, and you'll be able to reach him on 01295 760305. He usually isn't around to pick up, but leave him a message and he'll get back to you.

He usually uses about 37.5 tonnes a month (a load and a half) so 200 tonnes could easily be accommodated.

I'd be interested in all 200 tons depending where it's located.

Big J,thanks for suggestion, will try the sawmill if other options fail!

Nick, its situated near Upwell,Cambs,This is the biggest job ive quoted for,so not guaranteed to get the job,so is a feasability study,as i need to be sure all wood will go if I get the job!
