Splicing 16 Braid Marlow Gecko rope

Sup guys, turning my paws to splicing and Im looking to splice my Marlow gecko rope. Have seen a couple of methods on the old u tube, one for Samson 16 strand rope which has a non braided core. This method had no core running through the eye, is this acceptable with Gecko rope?

 

The other method was for splicing double braid and had both core and cover going through the eye.

 

Offhand I reckon the first method is correct how ever I know sod all about my ropes cover & core strengths. so to my layman's mind surely it is better to have both core and cover running through?

 

Would really appreciate a push in the right direction as I've just stabbed myself trying to get into the middle of my pre existing shop bought splice

Is it a used rope? If so it's the only rope I gave up on splicing, Marlow, I don't think supply splicing instructions?

 

I used the Samson 16 strand instructions but maybe should have taken out another strand or two or maybe not.

 

Seriously I wouldn't bother if its used.

Hmmm Yeah it is a used bit, the Marlow website has nothing pertaining to its gecko rope.

 

Sounds like the samson method is the way forward. Im going to have a crack anyways!

 

worst comes to worst I'll have to chuck away my grotty old flipline and buy a new one!

How did it turn out splicing the GEcko in the end?
