I've just started milling.

Bought a 30" Alaskan off Rob D on here.

Excellent piece of kit, but i should have bought at least a 36" maybe even larger.

I use one of the 880's in mine, flies through most things, the trick is to keep the chain super sharp.

Also got a little electric (12v) chain sharpener off Rob, means i can sharpen the chain, perfectly, without taking the mill assembly off the saw.

Put your location and ask on here, i had no end of help, one particular chap on here even took me to his wood for a day, supplied loads of timber for me to mill (and cups of tea), and taught me loads. great fun

I find the 880 very fuel thirsty when milling, a piece of Aspen i did a few weeks ago was using half a tank per cut !!!!

Get an Alasken, you'll love it

thanks for the reply, ive been looking into it a bit more and i think i will keep an eye out for a mobile sawmill rather than a chainsaw mill.

These things seem to be very few and far between, cant seem to find much second hand at all...guess ill have to keep looking!
