I bought this book from Treesource at the Arb Show.

This is a good one- The Secret Life of Trees by Colin Tudge.

 

It is very detailed and talks a lot about trees of the world. (Haven't finished it yet so will let you know).

Hey Treesurfer, not sure if you have 'The Principles of Tree Hazard Assessment' (from the same series as 'Body Language of Trees'). It is one of the most comprehensive arb books there is.

That book's got a great section on fungi - good pictures and ID info, plus significance.

The Wild Trees, by Richard Preston is the story of the discovery of a new tallest redwood in 2005.

 

Excellent story of the researchers who bushwhack and climb over 100 meters all the way to the top to measure & document the biggies.

This book has incredible photos and diagrams showing real-life rigging situations.

 

The title should be more accurately called advanced tree work, because all the rope techniques necessary for doing just about any tree are presented in this 500 page book.

 

I have found the authors depth of experience is vast, from the many old growth climbs we have done together.

For all of you doing the RFS cert. Arb I can recommend this: Woodlands, by Oliver Rackham...it's part of the New Naturalist series and is a great overview of all the main topics. Don't know how to upload the picture though?? duh
