Timber extraction

Recommended Posts

Evening all. I have been having a think about the viability of getting a tractor/trailer combo. I used to work for a jcb dealer and worked on a fastest with a mighty grab mounted on the rear load deck. Do you think there would be much call for something like that? Don't seem to be many people doing that sort of service round here. What sort of rates do these machines charge? Fancy a change of direction work wise so any advice greatly received.

Cheers Jay

Hi, the basic answer is "Yes possibly". It really depends where you are, what the competition is, what your rates are ........ My experience is fastracs are good on the road and not so good on the rough stuff. I do quite a bit of this type of work with a Valtra/ Botex setup but don't attempt to compete with the tigercat/JD brigade. Get in touch if you want any advice - I may be able to help, or I may be no use at all !!
