Begginers Carving

After getting further inspiration from the ArbShow today, I'm finally deciding to bite the bullet and try my hand at carving as I've always been quite interested in it.

 

But, i would need a carving bar for presumably for the 14" back handled saw, which is probably easiest to use for this purpose. I would also need to chain to accompany it. Does any one have any reccomendations on these? or any tips to help me start? I'm quite artistic anyway, and am quite patient which will help! My thinking is to start small and simple, for example with mushrooms or something, before getting better and developing further.

I want to have a go at carving too, Some of these carvers work is amazing!

You can use a normal bar and chain for most , the carving bar and chain is great for detail , mushrooms are easy done without

I agree. no point in spending a lot of money on specialist equip until you have attempted a few simple carvings.
