whats the minimum width and what are you extracting?

Its a strip off ground about 8m wide stuck between row of houses and cemetery. thing is it is about 200m long and access at one end only. There is a row of mature trees growing right down the middle of the strip. probably a tight 5ft each side of the trees without doing damage. Its only one mature lime blown over onto another tree. Could do the job manually with a lot of dragging but to be honest these job are coming up more often and are a bit of a pain with my current equipment, so i thought of investing in something smaller. But trying to get the right machine to suit different jobs is always a pain.

Will have a nosey about on net to find info for advent and boxers.

I would say the 'small tractor' has got to be the most versatile solution....

You can either go down the compact tractor route, Kubota or similar, or an older machine like an International 474.

As said, attachments for these are cheap as they don't have a power source built into each one. You also have weight and manoeverability on side, far better in poor conditions than a skid steer or ATV with any weight on board.

You should find one of these comfortably within your budget. And that doesn't necessarily mean it will be lawn tractor sized or an older 2wd farm tractor.

We used to have a Ford 1910. Was about 35 ish hp, 4wd, had a 1t power loader on it, 3pt linkage & PTO. Physically it was the same sort of size as a 135. Think that would have been within your budget when we chopped in in against a slightly larger machine.

My Quad and snow plow plus timber trailer are in the classifieds at the moment, here is the ebay link but the Arbtalk price is cheaper (when the mods change it for me)!. Call me if you want to have a chat about the machine. 07730683069

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

Ended up buying polaris 550 quad to day. Made the decision more on convenience, with the dealer close and had one in stock.

Once i get a notion into my head to buy something Ive got to get it quick, too impatient to wait for long delivery times.
