thuja plicata zebrina regeneration timescale?

Hi folks

Been out to look at three thuja plicata zebrina this morning. They are approx 10 years old and were planted about 2 - 2 1/2 feet apart and although they have been trimmed, they have all grown into one. They are about 9 foot tall and the client wants about 3 feet taking off the top and a good trim and shape around the outside with a least 1 1/2 foot coming off where it has grown over the neighbours lawn.

They want to keep them as they act as a screen, but they are too big.

I think what they imagined the end result to look like and the reality are very different!

My questions are:

1) Is this too much to take off in one go?

2) How long will it take to green up on the sides and the top?

3) Is early November a good, bad or indifferent time to do them?

4) Any other advice?

Cheers, Daz
