sick looking conifer/ llelandii

my first photo didn't do the job really, there are two tree trunks side by side, and the sick one looks very very sparse compared to it's twin.

you guys have done plenty of head scratching on my behalf, i just wanted to be certain as the TO wants a report from the tree professional.

the ivy is not helping this tree.

 

loks to me like a very impoverished soil made worse by shading from within via ivy and its drain on the poor soil.
