Surfers Ear

Just a quick note for those who do a lot/bit of watersports. Get checked out for surfers ear. It hurts a lot. I had surgery on Saturday to have it removed (all went well :thumbup1:) but it means no sailing/canoeing/wild swimming for me until the 25th October

Go down to the doctor and ask him to have a look when you have a minute

Like most things, if it's not bothering you and your hearing is fine why get checked out? I can see the waves from my living room so I know quite a few who have had that particular op. Not always without complication. Good ear plugs and a decent hood are a necessity these days, especially with the cold winters, and dirty water. I only started wearing them last year, as I would go deaf in one ear after a surf for a day or so. Hope your op went ok and sorts the problem.

My old hood always used to shoot back when I duckdived. Luckily I found another one washed up on a beach so now I use that one over the top. Double gimp action. Gets weird looks but it's warm.

Having said that, I haven't been in the water for a year. I must put the effort in.
