Utility surveying...?

Hi guys,

 

I was wondering whats actually involved in utility surveying? Is it anything like a 'normal' surveyor/consultant with inspections and reports etc?

 

Dont really know too much about utility work except there a whole load more tickets! lol

Basically you get a map with overhead line on it which you then walk / survey noting the following-

Tree species

Tree category (live zone, proximity zone or shutdown)

How many hours required for work

Span affected in percentage - 25/50/75/100

Equipment needed

Environmental issues

Permission from land owner work to be done

Seems easy till you get a shitty land owner who planted trees to screen lines etc or the electricty board has upset them and you get it in the neck

All recs seem to be looking for graduate level nowadays - why i don know as they dont have the practicle cutting experience!
