Have heard tell the same folklore superstitions...just cos we are capitalist, doesnt mean we need to be cultureless aswell( ?? )\ In pont of fact, in this part of the country, holly was used by the agricultural fraternity to mark drainage points, ditches and water table info, essential for the management of arable/livestock resource.....Cant imagine why livllihood should be so closeley associated with such things myself?!>>><><><>

thought this thread would throw up some fun!

on way home from job my radiator blew though! u can all imagine how laughable this was...but at least the holly will pay for repairs!

musing on how mirrors breaking=bad luck was fostered by upper classes to ensure servants didnt drop em cos of their value...and thinking how holly as a valued burning wood by blacksmiths and turning wood for carvers would explain the legends...well thats a marxist take on folklore i guess! as it turned out this was holly/very mature honeysuckle and another to boot, tried to convince owner it simply needed thinned but they say fell...they are keen to plant a holly sapling to appease the spirits though, lol, good on em!
