Silver Birch Branch Failure

Did this job yesterday evening. A Branch Failure on a Mature Silver Birch. No outward or inward signs of any disease. Failure most likely due to sail effect during high winds of last week. Tree has had one previous branch failure over 15 years ago otherwise not touched other than a dead wood and very minimal thin by me in Feb. Branch was approx 8inch diameter and was the main leader to the fore of the tree as in the picture.
