I have had a request to transplant a Japanese Maple.

It has a crown of 5ft diameter with a stem diameter of about 5 inches.

It is very healthy and in full leaf.

The client has just moved in and is landscaping the whole garden.

The tree is to be moved about a mile down the road to her mother's house.

I am sure this is not the best time to do this but the client needs it doing this week?

Any advice on trying to save it?

Find someone local with a 'tree spade' and experience using it, they'll probably be your best option. Where in the country are you based?
