any one got a kohler engine working or not

my engine on my rayco 25hp is nakard stripped it down weds and its buring oil and loosing revs opened it up both sides are full of engine oil. theres a crack slash chunk missing inside but i dont think thats why its leaking oil into the chamber, i think its the rings gone but the hole is a concern wheather i can put back together with new rings and will it work ill upload pics later its got a chunk missing just under the piston chamber deos any one have a engine kicking about want a kohler again even a bigger engine size will be ok or a broken one so i can use all my iner parts or do you think it would work if i put back togther
