Any ideas about the best way to revise for the above? Got them coming up soon and want to be prepared Are they as hard as people say?

Just read through your assessment schedule as much as you can and get a friend to ask you the questions on the sheet until you're confident you know the answers to everything your assessor is going to ask.

 

As long as you know what you're doing and how to be safe when it comes to felling and chainsaw use you'll be absolutely fine.

 

Most assessors are fairly friendly and will give you a bit of slack. They don't want to put you under a big amount of pressure because everyone knows it's hard to perform to a high standard when you're under pressure

 

Don't worry, keep calm and I wish you the best of luck... I'm sure you'll pass with flying colours.

do a search on here cs30/31 you will find hundreds of posts about it have a read

 

Keep carm work at your own pace Keep an eye on everything Check Check Check Check nothing wrong with it.You got 4hrs to fell 2 trees and cut up i took 1.20hr to do mine as i took my time and made sure everything was where its men't to be

First time mate. I've had the training at college, but because the admin is something that rhymes with "tank" I didn't get to do it before I left. So I had to outsource it elsewhere.

you will be fine mate just take your time, my tip would be to read through the bank of questions that they will ask. best of luck sure you'll pass

I must be one of the oldest to take it at 62 a few weeks ago. I found that we all had tension before the assessment, just think out what you are doing and go through all the movements to get your sequences good, fit a semi chisel chain - more control doing letter boxes, than R S full chisel.

 

My assessor really knew his skills and was looking for safety, high skill level and a good understanding of your saw, he could tell by the sound of your saw if you were any good. Most questions for him didn't always have text book answers but he wanted a deeper knowledge answer - no bull. I passed no prob and so did the others, the instructor has a 98% pass rate = you have to be a risk not to pass.

 

My son 19 yrs old is off to do his 30/31 with the same college in July, ok he has used saws since primary school and we ran through all the practical last Saturday, but he's not so mechanically minded as me - so he will have to work harder on that aspect.
