Hi just letting everyone know there was a good peice on the One Show today. They placed a microphone in a 500 year old oak that was hollowed out. Intresting sounds of all the criters doing there work and picked up the sounds of the sap flowing. :thumbup1:

 

 

Should be able to catch it on bbc iplayer. Friday 25th March 2011.

Yeah the have some really good pieces on the One Show at times. Did'nt realise how many species rely on the oak. Not sure if fungal attack allowed the critters to get in and feast on the dead wood or if the heart wood just decayed over time.
