First Loler

Evening all,

 

Just preparing everything for its first Loler. Ive been pretty slack it must be said, and didnt number everything from the start. I have however kept all my invoices/delivery notes from all my kit.

 

So on my spreadsheet, ive so far done a sheet for climbing, and a seperate one for lowering. got columns as follows

 

Manufacturer

Description

Manufacturer Serial

My Ident no

Date Commissioned

 

Am I missing anything?

 

What documentation will the tester want to see? Just this information? Invoices? Cert's of conformity? (cos I dont think most of the kit ever came with one)

 

Can anyone advise the best way to mark the different types of kit up with my own identification number too please

 

Time to get my proverbial together with regards record keeping so all help appreciated, also where i might be able to get my kit checked with relatively quick turn around

I marked my individual pieces of kit with my initials then a number i.e CB01, CB02 you get the idea. You will also need to have weekly check lists that are dated.

Yea, I may have the same issue when I come to loler my kit if I start climbing professionally. Let me know how you get on with the process:thumbup1:

I was under the impression the weekly inspection was to comply with the regulations, which is what the 6 monthly competent person inspection is also to do, so one should not be dependent on the other. Theyve never asked for any such inspection records when getting all out lifting, winching, climbing kits inspected at work to my knowledge

The two checks are required. But not dependant on each other (ie Your kit wont fail for not having a weekly record)

 

I think what you have should be fine.

 

As far as paperwork goes, the loler insp will have his/her own pro-forma forms to fill out and you will get a completed copy. talk nicely and you might also get a weekly pro-forma sorted (Tea & Biscuits help!)

If someone was to use your gear which can happen if you have 2 climbing the same tree, if they had an accident while on your rope the HSE would want to see that you had taken all safety precautions. Everything these days seems to need a paperwork trail. I may be wrong on this so please correct me if I am.
