Many Disc Chippers are designed for crane feeding. With a good operator even the ones that aren't are ok. (You keep the grip very loose with the grapple, so that the tree slides in the grapple rather than putting stress on the roller bearings etc.)

 

thanks.that sounds like good advice. i have never used a crane fed system yet , but hope to in the future to speed up jobs.

im going about sharpening my infeed rollers as the bottom one is very blunt indeed, didnt realise how bad it was. also have learned that the hyd ram is used for crusing to grip on the down direction and up when its infeed needs to be at max. as top roller might not be able to open when presented with large logs.the rollers work spring loaded when ram is not needed.might fit one. it depends on how it gets on once the roolers are built up and sharpened. :thumbup:
