Insurance for students?

Its almost better to be not insured but to know your not insured than to have everyone on site having seperate insurances but no one actually taking responsibilty.

 

I don't have any problems with small companies doing back garden work without insurance, as long as they are not deceiving the customer into thinking that they do have it. Minor breakages are nearly always paid for by the contractor. The insurance should be that the contractor "re assures" the client that nothign will be broken and if it is it will be fixed. Saying that its all ok cos we are insured is not as good IMO, as insurance is so rarely used for small things. So its almost like a claim that we are proffesional and so we can break stuff, rather than being proffesional and not breaking stuff in the first place, but standing by your mistake if you do.

 

Of course if you are working along a roadside etc then insurance is a good thing, and also for employing people it is a legal requirement but that still does not mean it always happens.

Hi ruth im looking at starting out once get my cs30 &31 and find a suitable placement just wondered how are you getting on did you find out about insurance costs afterwards?as this is somthing that i had on my to do list to find out ,its nice to see im not the only woman who is taking a career change :)hope its going well for you
