mitsubishi l200 troubles

hi wondering if anyone can help just had the heater matrix repaired in my truck and having problems not sure if its related to the matrix or not but seem to be losing water. but not over heating it seems to be going into the expantion bottle and leaking out the top when its full and not going back into the rad when it cools down had a sniffer test done to see if it was the head gasket but didnt change colour the bottom hose seems to stay cold had a new rad last year and just replaced the radiator cap have allso notice that the heater doesnt blow as hot as it should though it may be a airlock so left the cap off tied bleeding out the air and toping up the anti freeze as the bubbles come out but still doing it any idea what may be causing this? would be very greatfull off any help

checked the thermostat and seems ok opens and closes dont know any1 with a pressure tester rad doesnt seem to be over hot but havent gone on any really long trips top hose gets hard fairly quick but not sure if thats the norm ? did notice a few bubbles coming out with the water out of the expansion bottle overflow pipe the other day ? i left the engine running for a about 15 20 mins while tying to bleed the air out surely it couldnt have that much air in the system the matrix was only repaied but no leaks from there

Hi digga.

Sounds like your water pump is failing. I have just repaired my dad car which had the same problem with the water running back to the expansion tank. An air lock can cause this similar problem but it sounds like you have tried to sort that. Try looking at the water pump to see if it's slighty leaking. Sounds like the propellor have broken up.

Worth a look.

I would say this is 99% certain an airlock.

 

If everything was working before the heater matrix was repaired, then it should do now.

 

I would drain the system (catch the coolant in something so you can re-use it if it is new),

then when refilling ensure the heater temp control is set to hot, if the filling point is at the front nearside or offisde then jack up that side as high as possible and start refilling, giving the hoses a good squeeze as you go.

 

Run the engine up to temp and check the level again, and fingers crossed all will be ok.

 

I would defo do this before paying out for a water pump.
