Good little compact cameras??

Hi All,

 

I've got a little camera on my Chrissy wish list from the girlfriend, as my old digi camera is old school!

 

Can anyone recommend a nice little camera, that will be good to take into the field to help build the portfolio, and easily takes nice shots without too much fuss, and has a zoom of sorts!?

 

I have looked at the Lumix range, girlfriend has one, like the pics it takes, but Sony do some nice camers too, know there's a few camera buff's on here so any advice is appreciated.

 

budget around the £150-£200 max.

I'm a total fan of the canon ixus range they take absolutely brilliant pics though may be a touch over the budget mine the canon ixus 960 matches up to anything I've seen in a digital camera and surpasses usually to anything of comparable value I feel that sometimes it makes sense to just push the boat out a little.

I too like the little canon ixus. I have a 750 or 700 can't remember which. Either way it's a cool camera. There's almost nothing sticking out of the shell so it can't snap buttons off. The screen is encased too so you can't press it and crack it. Very tough little camera and takes a good photo!

I have a little Nikon Coolpix which i use as the beer camera when i don't want to take out the DSLR. Nice camera easy to use.

 

I will always say this, go to a shop like jessops and try them all in your price range. Go with the one that you feel most comfortable with. What works for one person might not work for someone else with larger hands/fingers.
