fungus information

holla

 

right i have this assignment to do. im looking for good information on hearwood decay fungi. i keep finding lots of information on the actual fruiting bodies and so on, but im after information on lifecycles, what effects they have on the tree, how they spread and prevention, control etc.

 

If anyone had any links or books they might recommend it would be mucho appreciated.

principles of wood of tree hazard assement and managment is a good book bit expensive £29.99, or fungal strategies of wood decay in trees by f.w.m.r schwarze tells how fungi attacks and breaks down wood also diagnsis of ill health in trees by the forestry commission, dunno if that helps at all i dont really know any web sites sorry

ganoderms reinaceum had a 2 year lifecycle, with annual fruiding bodies, they enter through wounds (natural and unnatural) and cracks in the stem. all ganoderma species caused white rot, which basically reduces the mechanical strength of the tree, but some may argue makeing it more ductile in heavy winds
