Dave S at ormtec will help you as much as he possibly can, he has done loads for me in the past, and i have evaluted most mobile GIS software out there for handhelds, and if its being used by more than one person digiterra is the most versitile and easiest to teach people to use, (its also the easiest to configure for different tables for recording) to the point that i have done an a4 quick sheet that gets most people out and recording data,

Very helpful bloke he is. In fact it was probably you that pointed me there in the first place!

What im looking for is handheld sub foot acurate tablet PC with GPS/GIS that will allow me to generate tree positions crown spread and risk assesments/vta/occupiers liability type info on the spot ready to download into a report and print map.

shall go see digiterra now.:001_cool:

Then all i need is a software package that will type from my dictaphone recording and allow me to follow behind it editing and corecting as I go!

dragon naturally speaking is the best voice to text converter i'm lead to believe by friends and colleagues :thumbup1:

my ideal set up would be a gps enabled toughbook (£600 used), running digiterra (c. £800) with a mobile gprs card for accessing aerial imagery whilst on the ground as this is invaluable in many cases (c £25 a month), and is good for peice of mind when your dealing with just a layer showing a few points that you cant orientate yourself with easily.

This set up would be fantastic for work on construction sites and for follow up meetings on site, as its easy to display the maps so they can be show to contractors, its not the smallest lighest or most compact but to be able to have the kind of processor power and display size along with a touch screen tablet would be fantastic field work,
