Decompaction /aeration + mulch is a good start. Don't know how practical though.

 

Unless tree safety / stability is comprimised I would avoid pruning, or certainly excessive pruning, at this stage, i.e. let the tree put all it's available energy into coping with the potentially damaged roots not 'defense' in relation to the pruning cuts generated.
