Advice on what to do with this sweet chestnut!!!!

At a guess the tree in question has three options:

1 fell it as it now has massive crack running down to ground level and it is structurally unsound. This also applies if there are roads, footpaths, building etc nearby and public liability is an issue.

2 pollard it to reduce the weight and stress on the trunk and madssive crack.

3 leave it alone and see what happens.

Inform/ advise the customer, and let them make the choice.

 

bare in mind that sweet chestnut is appaling firewood, in case the customer is thinking about alot of cheap firewood.
