Can anyone tell me if the only way to release the throw line cage is to unscrew the retaining block from inside? Seems a bit of a ball ache!

 

Don't quite get what your getting at,

to release the ball you give the throw line a tug if thats what you mean?

or to take the throw off you just untie it

How do you remove the cage from the main body once you have pulled the ball through and the body is in the cage?

There's two slits in the main body, making a kind of flap with a metal latch at the bottom, (Its what makes the first snap) simpley pull it up and pop the cage out with your finger. if that makes sence
