CITY OF LONDON

OPEN SPACES DEPARTMENT - EPPING FOREST

 

CONSERVATION ABORIST

Full time post working 37 hours per week

Salary between £19,120 - £22,880 pa inclusive

(plus 5.7% Contract hours payment to basic salary)

*Subject to Pay and Grading Review

 

The City of London is the local authority for the commercial and financial heart of Britain. In addition, the City of London has responsibilities that stretch far beyond the confines of the “Square Mile”. These include the ownership and management of some 10,000 acres of London’s open space, of which Epping Forest and its buffer lands comprise nearly 8,000 acres. Situated at the boundary of north east London and south west Essex, Epping Forest is a unique public open space, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation with many thousands of visitors per annum.

 

You will mainly manage the Forests’ veteran pollard trees although other tree and woodland management work is carried out to improve access and ensure public safety. You will be required to demonstrate relevant experience of practical arboricultural work including tree climbing, crown reduction, dismantling and pollarding, backed up by appropriate NPTC certification. The post requires the ability work as part of a team, an awareness of Health & Safety issues and a full driving licence.
