Arb Show announces a packed programme of events

Among the many benefits of spending a day at the Arb Show is the opportunity to share practical experience and tips, as well as to gain knowledge and insights through its programme of events. And this year’s show will be no exception, with the Arboricultural Association announcing a busy programme of activities taking place across the showground.



 

Contractors’ Workshop

 

The STIHL-sponsored Contractors’ Workshop is located next to the Arboricultural Association headquarters stand, and is running a series of technical presentations by Marlow ropes, Treeworker, DMM and Andrew Cowan of RhizoEcology. Topics being covered include the technical aspects of climbing rope construction, the good practice of arboriculture-related work at height, the correct use of an air spade in root care management,

and the research, development and manufacture of products relevant to the sector.

 

 

Practical Demonstrations

 

Practical demonstrations can be found all around the showground, and the Arboricultural Association thanks all those presenting demonstrations and events.

 

Among the demonstrations, Fletcher Stewart are supporting a series of bite-sized demonstrations on the safe matching and use of rigging equipment and rigging ropes, and will be giving talks and demonstrations on the correct use of the Air Spade in arboricultural practice.

 

On the Construction Site, Abbey Pynford will be presenting a Housedeck foundation exhibition and Geosynthetics will demonstrate Cellweb, their Geocellular tree root protection system, in line with current BS 5837 guidance.

 

In the STIHL woodland edge area, demonstrations are this year by Canopy Access Limited – an organisation providing safety at height services for those wishing to access the rainforest canopy, and from fields as diverse as science, exploration, tourism and filmmaking. The rainforest canopy is an extremely dynamic and physically demanding environment, and thus techniques used by the Canopy Access team are derived from

caving, arboriculture and industrial disciplines. Their demonstrations promise a fascinating and thought-provoking insight into the giants of the rainforest and the techniques used in tackling them.

 

Another popular stop-off for Arb Show visitors, the Tree Climbers’ Forum sponsored by Treeworker, will be offering advice and demonstrating the latest equipment throughout each day.

 

 

The Arbjobs 3ATC competition

 

Giving visitors the chance to win some great prizes, the arbjobs.com sponsored 3ATC (Arboricultural Association Arborist Tree Challenge) competition is an open-to-all test of climbing skills.

 

This year’s challenge has four entry categories, encouraging every level of competitor from novice to experienced in the Premier class. This year’s Challenge is also being made easier, replicating a straightforward Work Climb, where competitors just need to complete a set of target zone tasks. Sponsor of the event, arbjobs.com have got together a great range of prizes, and with an entry fee of just £10 competitors have the chance to win some top gear from some of the industry’s leading retailers.
