Hello everyone

I am looking for advice on how to get into the industry....

I have done abit of groundie work for a local tree surgeon before (just woodchipping), need to start gaining some qualifications though, i currently work for the lincolnshire wildlife trust on a 6 month contract that ends in August, the qualifications in this field i have already are Brushcutter and im doing my tractor course very soon...

I am based in Skegness, Lincolnshire.

I went to riseholme college and studied Countryside Management but unfortunately due to personal reasons i had to leave... should really have put that up on my first post.

I was thinking of maybe getting in with a local tree surgeon again and then doing a few practical quals like the chipper ticket, and then moving up.

i would have the nc, (if they still do it!)

the nc is the same as the first year nd, so if you get on ok, you can switch to the second year nd later.

yeah the gamekeepers were always the trouble makers!!

if you stick grounding with your mate, you might get a few nptcs if your lucky after a few years. with a college course youl get more out in less time.

i was at riseholme a few yearsback.

Think a couple of lecturers have left at riseholme since i was there a couple of years ago... since riseholme ive been volunteering with the lincolnshire wildlife trust and now ive got this 6 month contract with them but the volunteering has been awesome, ive met alot of local contractors in different fields of work: Fencing, groundwork, etc... done work for them for cash whilst volunteering and learnt to drive all different kinds of machinery too.

if youv had a couple of years out, your head should be in the right place for learning.

just have a look at the courses, see what the lecturers say at an open day.

you should have diff lecturers anyway cuz its diff courses.

i was there when the arb course was part of the hort course. i dont know whos moved to where.
