Polypropylene - 170

Polyehylene - 135

HMPE (dyneema and spectra) - 135

Nylon 6 - 219

Nylon 6.6 - 254

Polyester - 256

LCAP - 330

Aramid - Chars at around 450

 

Vectran is an LCAP

 

Technora has a decomposition temperature of 500 and at 250 degrees is still retains half its strength

just saying winch line doesn't help as different ropes have different characteristics.

 

The Welsh lady was probably right. Carolyn from proclimber yeah?

 

and i wouldn't like to use any arb rope in fall arrest situations

truth being told i have an ascender strop i made out of 8mm Marlow D12, it has a breaking strength of 5360kgs.

 

down point is its a bit skinny and not confidence inspiring at all.

 

Just be safe with your rope fibres. strong, low weight, low elongation and boyancy doesn't always mean safe.

Not suitable for climbing on its own, new england have a new low stretch rope coming out, and there are others on the market. To be honest though you only notice the stretch on big trees anyway.
