Hello people.

I’m keen to dip my toes into the waters of chainsaw carving. I have a number of larger chainsaws which would be ideal for the ‘blocking’ down of stumps before the intricate stuff begins, but want to use a little light saw for the detail work, before I switch to my Makita die grinder.

Anyway, I can’t justify the £399 for an Echo 2511 WESC with the 1/4” sprocket and carving bar incase I’m totally useless at it, and it becomes a very expensive pruning saw. As such I’ve elected to buy a Mitox 270 CSX which some describe as a clone of the Echo 2511. At £160 it’s a fraction of the price and if it ends up as a pruning saw if I suck at carving, so be it. If I turn out to be any good and enjoy the carving I can upgrade to the echo later.

My question is, is there a 1/4” sprocket compatible with the Mitox 270 CSX that I can pair with a small carving bar from either Sugihara or Stihl

Any help appreciated.

I won’t be doing anything that fancy for a few days…..

Probably start with something I little more subdued and less ‘show-offy’ like this bad boy….

I once made an old stump into a big toadstool for a couple after felling a tree for them, they were happy enough, even painted it to look more realistic, but that moose is off the scale.

a buddy of mine did a few "tiki" heads for a luau type event.

It’s a real ambition crusher, that’s for sure 🫨

I will work my way up to the fungi stuff in due course… think I’ll start with the elegant form of a cucumber, or maybe a potato 🥔

I can’t even go outside without my neighbours complaining about a giant penis being in my garden!

(especially if I nip out for a slash 😁)

reminds of one time I came home late from the pub, the missus was fuming, but look I said,, I won you a fur coat in a competition,

what kind of competition she asked,, the biggest willy competition, I proudly announced.

looking somewhat horrified she said,,"you never got it out for the whole pub to see did you"

I winked at her,,,"only enough of it to win"
