Any good suppliers in Bedfordshire?

Hi all,

Just read this on another forum from a guy in Bedfordshire:

I'm now resigned to it being impossible to obtain wood in a condition suitable for immediate burning, at least in my area.

What you typically get is wood that has been felled a couple of years ago, chopped into lengths several feet long, then stacked up in a wood, or the corner of a field, or some other shady and damp location where it is as likely to rot as dry out. When you order it, it is then cut to length and split immediately before delivery. Testing a typical sample showed some "seasoned" ash delivered to me was 40-60% water - not much wetter than if it had just been felled ! Of course, the problem is that if it is cut into short enough lengths for it to actually stand a chance of drying, it will also be portable and hence need to be kept in a secure place or it will be stolen.

If there are any suppliers of good quality firewood in the area I'll be happy to put you in touch with him.

Cheers,

Andy
