About Us:
At Quill Hall Arboriculture, we are dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the beauty, safety, and health of the urban and rural landscapes. As a leading provider of utility vegetation management, we ensure that trees and vegetation are properly managed around utility infrastructure. We are currently seeking a skilled Utility Arborist and surveyor to join our dynamic team.

We currently work on 11kv, 33kv, 66kv, 275kv and 400kv networks for UKPN, SSE and National grid.

Position Overview:
The Utility Arborist will be responsible for managing and maintaining vegetation around electrical and utility lines, ensuring safe and efficient operations. This role requires an individual with specialized knowledge in arboriculture and a strong understanding of utility vegetation management practices.

A Utility surveyor must be able to have strong communication skills for liaising with land owners, DNO's and our own team to ensure work is carried out smoothly and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, maintain, and remove trees and vegetation that pose risks to utility infrastructure, including power lines and other utility assets.
  • Perform tree trimming, pruning, and removal following industry best practices and safety standards.
  • Work closely with utility companies to ensure proper vegetation clearance.
  • Identify and assess tree health and safety risks, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as chainsaws, MEWPS and wood chippers.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with storm response efforts, including emergency tree removal and debris clearing.
  • Communicate with customers and the public about utility vegetation management programs.

Qualifications:

  • NPTC tickets for the Utility sector.
  • Network authorisations advantageous but not essential.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining tree care equipment, such as chainsaws, aerial lifts, and chippers.
  • Knowledge of utility regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
