The Opportunity:  Keen to harness your forestry expertise and lead the sustainable management of a number of prestigious forestry estates?  The Lead Forestry Manager is an exciting role for a seasoned forester, leveraging your in-depth skills and expertise, making valuable contributions to the team and wider business growth. The Company: A reputable horticultural and forestry business, offering a variety of consultancy services tailored to the sector, along with bespoke woodland and garden design and management advice.  At the heart of the business is a commitment to sustainability and natural capital, which runs deep through everyday practices.

 Role Responsibilities:

  • To manage forestry estates and woodlands projects for clients, ensuring the delivery of exceptional services always striving to exceed expectations
  • To build and sustain strong client relationships by understanding their needs and providing expert advice
  • To assess project requirements, prepare cost estimates and secure relevant permissions for contracts
  • To develop management plans and secure eligible grant aid funding
  • To oversee the day-to-day management of the woodlands
  • To develop the forestry division, identifying opportunities for business growth e.g. agroforestry
  • To provide leadership and support to the team, fostering continual growth and knowledge exchange

Skills you will need:
Essential:

  • Proven experience and success in a forestry management position
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of forestry management including grants, markets and sales
  • Experience in securing permission and managing contracts, in compliance with industry regulations
  • Chartered membership of CIEEM (or working towards) and an experienced ICF member
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity  to build relationship effectively
  • The ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences
  • Excellent leadership and people skills
  • A decision maker, with strong problem solving skills
  • The capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes
  • A commitment to environmental conservation and the promotion of sustainable practices
  • A UK driving licence with the desire to travel to clients sites
