Job description

Ligna is a small yet busy arboricultural consultancy business working in both commercial and domestic sectors. We undertake tree surveys and provide key reports for planning developments, working with architects, builders, land agents and local planning consultants to help shape the future for a greener build.

 

In addition to the development projects, we work with block & estate managements, parish councils, schools and other clients to produce tree condition surveys and reports. Another smaller yet key area includes tree inspections and subsidence investigations for insurance, and mortgage reports.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an Arboricultural Consultant/Surveyor to join our team to help us expand the development and planning area of the business. We would be open to a newly qualified surveyor looking to gain experience or an experienced Consultant.

 

The office is based in East Anglia, but work expands out of East of England to areas as far as the Midlands, Central, Southern and Northern areas. Working from home or hybrid would be expected. Company vehicle with excellent remuneration package.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Arboricultural development surveys using appropriate equipment to produce quality reports including Arboricultural Impact Assessments, Tree Protection Schemes and providing feedback to the client if required.
  • Tree Condition Reports (training provided if required)
  • Mortgage / Insurance level surveys and reports
  • Work together to grow the business by identifying and liaising with new clients, helping to build strong relationships

 

Person Specification (Essential)

  • Hold a recognised Arboricultural qualification at Level 3 or above
  • A full driving licence
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation and industry best practice
  • Familiar with BS 5837 standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good team player

 

Person Specification (Desirable)

  • Understanding or training in QTRA or other tree risk methodology (we much prefer common sense risk assessment methods)
  • LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection (PTI)
  • Experience with CAD and GIS software
  • Accurate and diligent in production of reports
  • Flexibility regarding timing and location
  • Understanding of BNG (Biodiversity Net Gain)

 

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary range £28,000 to £40,000 negotiable depending on qualifications and experience
  • Flexibility - full-time, flexi and part-time considered
  • NEST Pension scheme (after qualifying period)
  • Company van provided or expenses paid if using own vehicle
  • CPD budget and training if required
  • Work from home
  • Small personal team

 

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Part-time considered
  • Very occasional weekend availability
  • Flexitime

 

We are looking for someone to join our small team who is genuinely enthusiastic about working with trees, takes pride in their work and relishes the challenge of a varied workload; someone who is wanting to work as a team member to build the company and grow with it. All the necessary PPE, laptop/tablet, equipment is provided. A DBS check is required for any potential tree condition work at schools and a full driving licence is essential as extensive local and national travel will be required.
