Hi All,

Thanks in advance, i come as a complete ignorant on the subject to see if you can give me some tips on what to do or don't.

I moved to this house at the end of the last summer, this apple tree had dozens of apples and it was bended nearly to the ground, i removed all the apples and straight it up with some ropes and sticks, when i found in the trunk near the ground what it looks to be some sort of illness (see the pictures attached).

I was wondering if anyone knows what that could be and if it is a good idea to remove some excess branches to allow it to have less weight.

FYI: Im located in The Netherlands in case that ca be a factor
