Hope someone out there can help. I've got a vermeer 620i and today the feed roller stopped working I think it's electrical but don't know my backside from my when it comes to repairs. Does anyone know of someone in the south east that could help. Its a long haul up to vermeer for me. Cheers here's hoping.

Right, i had one of these as my first chipper and mine did exactly the same. There is a woodruff key between the hydraulic motor and the infeed roller. this should be coupled by a chain link thingy!! Inside of there is the woodruff key, if you have had alot of wear then this starts to move and eventually falls out and sits inside the coupling. When i contacted Vermeer to get a new infeed roller, there were no new ones in England and one in America!!

Remove the hydraulic motor by undoing the large nut above it and remove the two metal guards. Detach the coupling and look to see if one the hydraulic motor is still spinning and two where the woodruff key has gone! Its a 2 inch long square bar, there is also a half moon one too on the hydraulic side.

If this the case as was mine of excessive wear, i took mine to a machinist who routed another groove in for me.

Anyway good luck

Cheers for the advice gents I managed to find someone to take a look today he's a mobile set up that does all makes of chippers etc, diagnosed the problem as the heavy duty rubber connector between engine and hydraulic pump the thing was shot to bits.

Anyway thanks again.
