Valtra 900 gear issues

Hi everyone

 

I bought a 1999 Valtra Valmet 900 (in my profile pic), high hours at 1200 but well looked after. However, I now find that it won't go into third gear either in high or low...

Wondered if there's any help or suggestions out there...

Do you have high med and low ranges or just high and low. All the other gears work ok?  Sounds like a clutch pack is going or gone. Had the same with an early a series valtra which was a rebranded 900.

I have just high and low...

 

All other gears are ok - sometimes a crunch when going from 2nd to 4th...can't get into 3rd now at all...

 

If it's the clutch pack, is it any easy fix?!

Depends on what you mean by easy. If it is the clutch pack then you will need to split the tractor. Worth getting an ag engineer to have a look at it. 

 

Do you use a driven trailer behind it. I've seen a few valtra g diffs wrecked by being over driven by the trailer drive.

Yes - def get someone else to look at it I reckon!

 

I have a Farma T9 timber trailer attached to it...
