Timber sourcing advice

Recommended Posts

Recently borrowed a Alaskan mill and had a go at milling up an oak tree that came down on the family farm. Have got the bug for it and was wondering what advise people would give on getting hold of more butts. Is it best to speak to local tree surgeons, are they usually happy to get rid of butts to save labour cutting them up? I'm based in Cambridgeshire.

Currently in the process of adding a steel arch and big winch to a trailer to move the butts so hopefully that will help. Thanks
