Toltex tree anchoring

Recommended Posts

Toltex tree anchoring system: http://www.toltex.fr/telechargements.html just seen this query on UKTC and was wondering if there was anyone here with any experience of it? I like the idea of hiding the means of securing the trees, similar idea to the platipus as far as its underground. Thoughts please?

There is nothing new about using hidden ground anchors for pot grown or large net/wire rootballed stock. I would have thought you have done this before. I have seen schemes where trees where anchored to sleepers and concrete buried below the trees rootball. platypus is installed slightly differently. I have the proper tools for platypus and used them on only one tree.( 20' Salix contorta we moved accross a garden)

The rootball needs to be dense but timber spreaders can be laid on the top of the rootball.

Tbh most clients dont mind a stake or two, or guying, rather than pay for something they cant even see, so no, had never installed underground systems. maybe justifiable on larger sized trees than I've been planting, although I aint too happy with the results Ive seen, using the Platipus, and they were put in by a company purporting to specialise in large tree planting!!

Guys some facts to help - The Toltex system is flawed in several ways, mainly the use of nylon belting which never decays. The Fylde job quoted used the Platipus RF1P cost is £28.25. Platipus now do kits from £16.50 for small but high value pot grown shrubs up to 20m+ and also offer free onsite training. One company I rate highly is - http://www.majesticgroup.co.uk/ very forward thinking, worth a visit if you get chance.

Does the system work? have a look at Blue Water Park in Kent or Terminal 5 at Heathrow

here is a new product due to be lauched in the next few weeks that will revolutionise tree planting, it is a really simple and relativly cheap product that has been substantially tested, suprise suprise it is from Germany and is designed by Mr Cobra Cable Bracing, he has also developed a fantastic new cable bracing system, also due to be launched - lovely.....:icon14:
