Any ideas...

Juvenile tulip tree exhibiting yellow leaves and brown spots.  It has been well watered this season and sprayed with washing up liquid at first signs of yellowing - 2 months ago.

Any ideas on ill-health and possible treatment?

It seems to do this every year.

Premature yellowing and leaf drop observed on tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), also known as yellow poplar and tulip poplar. (Figures 1 and 2) are symptoms most likely related to root stress. Previous extended periods of hot, dry, weather in combination with various site stress factors, are likely contributing factors. An added symptom that frequently accompanies the leaf yellowing is the appearance of circular, black spots between the veins of the yellowing leaves (Figures 3 and 4). The black spots are often mistaken for a fungal leaf spot disease. Though alarming in appearance these symptoms do not usually affect long-term tree vigor or health.  Gail Ruhl, Sr. Plant Disease Diagnostician, Dept. of Botany & Plant Pathology, Purdue University

Cheers Dan

Many thanks for the info - I'll pass this on.  The tree is in a raised concrete planter in the centre of a gravel car parking area so root stress is a very likely cause.

I couldn't view the Figures 1,2,3 and 4 - any ideas?

I had my tree for years blossoming but in last 2 years after yellowing spotty leaves I lost all leaves and tulips of my huge tulip tree in my garden where occasionally a river tributary floods on few occasions in winter. Now it is barren all seasons.  Anything can be done or is it as dead as it looks?
