020T Problems

Good evening all. First off, congratulations on a quality site, nice to see some home grown goodness around!

As it's my first post, I shall start with a cry for help. We have a 020T at work which I am trying to look after, but it is behaving like a 12 year old on two pints of stella, and it's driving me nuts.

Recently it's been in bits as some monkey put a screwdriver through the intake boot (!) and had a new one fitted, along with a new fuel line that was needed. We have a good mechanic who gave it all a clean bill of health and it was spotless (internally). From running like a dream after it's rebuild it's gone from lean to rich and back at the top end and now idles for 8-10 seconds and bog and dies, under load or not and won't hold any state of tune. The carb is clean as a whistle and most expendable sealy bits are very new.

Our mechanic is a bit baffled and I definitely am, having the intelligence of a flea. He is a very capable two stroke mechanic (mostly marine outboards) but is new to saws.

Any suggestions?

Sorry for the long winded post, many thanks for any help.

Regards,

Swooop

P.S I have read the ms200t carb thread, I hope I am not going over old ground!

You say some seals have been replaced on the carb, have you replaced the diaphram pump and the plastic flappers I call them at the other side of the carb.

In other words a complete seal and diaphram kit.

Mine looked ok but the plastic had gone hard and the one way flaps weren't sealing, gave the same symptoms you described
